Post Vaccination/The Vaccine Model Equation/Vaccine Efficacy

Post Vaccination/ Developing The Vaccine Model Equation

The Michaelis-Menten equation can be changed to reflect an alternative way of obtaining numbers to calculate Vmax . Derived from the Michaelis-Menten equation as follows:
                                       v    =     Vmax [S]
                                                    Km + [S]

                                invert and multiply with Vmax

   Vmax = Vmax (Km + [S])       =        Km + [S]
     v               Vmax + [S]                            [S]

Moving aside from the above equation and comparing it to equations for vaccine efficacy in predicting and determining the effectiveness of the Covid vaccine. Vaccine efficacy (VE) is measured by calculating the risk of viral infection among those individuals who have been vaccinated and those who remain as unvaccinated individuals. In order to determine the percentage reduction in the spread of a virus, in addition to the risk of a virus among vaccinated individuals relative to unvaccinated individuals. The greater the percentage reduction of infection in the vaccinated group, the greater the vaccine efficacy. The preliminary formula for Vaccine Efficacy:
Risk among unvaccinated individuals (A) − Risk among vaccinated individuals (B)divided byRisk among the unvaccinated individuals (C)

OR: [1 − [risk ratio]]

The risk formula is equated by taking the first portion of the bracket

Risk among unvaccinated individuals (A) - risk among vaccinated individuals (B)

The critical point is to reflect a reduction in infections and cases among those individuals who are vaccinated.

Vaccine efficacy is reflected as the calculated reduction in viral transmission and infection due to vaccination among a given population (B). This risk among the vaccinated individuals declines over a given period reflecting the effectiveness of the vaccine. Therefore VE of 80% indicates an 80% reduction in Covid-19 virus infection and Covid-19 positive test results among the Covid vaccinated group, or a 80% reduction from the number of cases that would transpire in the case that those individuals were not  vaccinated (A).
